Hi, my name is Ryan. I am a husband and father of two — one awesome little boy and one chocolate lab. I love the outdoors. I believe bacon makes everything taste better. I am fascinated with gadgets. As a kid I frequently took things apart to see how they worked; I still do this, but now I know how to put them back together. I love gourmet food, but don’t cook. I love to laugh until my stomach hurts. I am observant, although frequently mistaken for shy. I married by best friend, and realize the value of a life-long partner. This is one of the many reasons that I love to document relationships and creating lasting memories. I got the chance to spend a wonderful day with the Allen family in this lifestyle session. It was a wonderful opportunity to document a slice of their life and preserve those memories forever. I would love to take a look back at my childhood in this way. The nostalgia of seeing the kitchen where we ate so many meals together, the bedroom where I spent countless hours playing with toys, or the living room where I practically parked in front of the TV. This is real life, and these are the moments that count. I chose to process this entire session in black and white for the simplicity and to make it authentic photojournalism. While this was mainly shot on digital format, there are some film shots mixed in. Nikon F100 and Mamiya 645 Pro TL. Film stocks were Kodak TMax 3200 and Tri-X 400.

When two people start the beginning of the rest of their lives it’s a wonderful thing to witness. It’s even better to be able to document it and create lasting memories. We started the day at Union Station Hotel where the wedding party got ready. It was a glorious afternoon, and the hotel was bustling with traffic as usual. The room offered large windows with wonderful light for pictures. The couple opted to break tradition and see each other for a unique first look. We had such a great time shooting around the hotel. The entire party even got free samples of 5 hour energy from a nearby promotional van. I admit, even I tried a sample. Aside from the part that tasted like cough syrup, it was silky smooth going down. 15 mins later, I was bouncing around ready to rock. Maybe this stuff really does work. We then moved to the ceremony site at Marathon Village where we spent the rest of the evening together. It was a globally themed wedding featuring food from countries all over the world. And it might have also had a little bit of influence from the bride’s love affair with Harry Potter. Enjoy!

I met up with Anna & Stephen at the Factory in Franklin on Sunday. We decided to start our session at nearby Pinkerton Park and get some shots on the railroad tracks and the walking bridge over the Harpeth River. The weather had cooled down a little by the time we started, but it was still a humid evening. The light was wonderful as the sun was going behind the trees. Anna & Stephen were a real pleasure to work with, and were up for anything. They are both attending MTSU, and will graduate next year. I look forward to their wedding next fall at Marathon Village. We spent about two hours walking around the Factory and the park, and captured some great moments. Enjoy!

Jennifer and Mark are getting married next month in Tybee Island, outside of Savannah, GA. They met while Jennifer was in Office Training School for the Air National Guard. We were originally going to take pictures at the Guard base, but had to go with plan B due to security clearance issues. They decided to take pictures in downton Smyrna, since it’s reflective of a place that Jennifer worked as a school teacher and a place that marked the beginning of their relationship. Saturday evening turned into a wonderful day after the rain stopped. We had a wonderful time walking around the Smyrna square. Enjoy!
